LSG Sky Chefs opens facility in Luanda, Angola
Luanda, Angola / Neu-Isenburg, Germany – On Friday, June 29, a newly-built catering facility, operating under the name LSG Sky Chefs TAAG Angola Catering S.A., was officially opened at Luanda International Airport, Angola. The joint venture is a co-operation between LSG Sky Chefs, TAAG Angola Airlines, Angola Air Catering and the Luanda airport (ENANA).
The company, which was incorporated in August 2010, will start supplying in-flight catering services to airlines flying out of Luanda as of July 16, 2012. The facility was built in less than one year and has a 2,700 square-meter production area equipped with the latest technology. After the start-up with the first customer TAAG, the 280 employees will produce up to 6,000 meals per day for a number of international, domestic and African airlines.
“Four years ago, our joint venture partner Angola Air Catering approached us to build and manage a catering facility complying with international quality standards at Luanda airport, based on the opportunities offered by the growing Angolan economy,” said Alfred Rigler, LSG Sky Chefs’ RCOO Emerging Markets. “We are very pleased to be the first German company which entered into a joint venture with Angolan partners, thus contributing to the country’s further development.”
“The opening of this high-quality and internationally-recognized catering facility is an important milestone in the history of our airport, which in turn significantly contributes to our economic growth,” added Pimentel Araújo, President of TAAG Angola Airlines.
